              I.Profile

              There are many equipment used in electric power, petroleum, chemical, coal, metallurgy and other industries in order to control the liquid level by adjust the outlet flow rate. Traditional level controllers are mostly mechanical float ball, electric and pneumatic traps. These traps are mostly troublesome in regulation, low flexibility, and large error rate and other shortcomings. Some of them have to be changed to manual ones to increase labor intensity. Some operation have to be changed into manual, which increased the intensity of labor.In some cases, out-of-control can cause misoperation by operators, poses a serious threat to the unit, and causes considerable economic losses.

              In recent years, a new level automatic controller based on vapor-liquid two-phase control theory has been developed jointly by the Institute of Thermal Power, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and successfully replaced the old equipment. It can not only carry out technological transformation on the basis of the old equipment, but also provide matching selection for major design institutes and research institutes. The automatic controller can be used in boiler drum, high and low pressure heater of steam turbine, evaporator, heat exchanger, row expanding container and many other equipment.

              II. Working principle

              The automatic level controller of vapor-liquid two-phase flow is based on the theory of hydrodynamics control. It uses the characteristics of liquid and vapor flow values to design and set sensing signals and regulating systems. It mixes vapor and liquid effectively in the most economical way in order to maximize and keep the vapor and water values in the best state.

              Operating principle: The water drain enters the valve chamber by the inlet pipe of the controller body, and the signal pipe collects the vapor phase based on the level of the liquid, mixed with the drain and flows through the specially designed throat assembly. When the liquid level decreases, drain flow rate decreases, and the purpose of effectively controlling the  drain flow rate is achieved. When the liquid level rises, the operating process is contrary to the above, thus repeated circulation can realize the automatic adjustment of the liquid level, so that the liquid level of the equipment can always be maintained in a normal and reasonable range.
